says to ALL: standing watching the men offloading the timber from one of the ships that had just arrived back from the north so that Caldor can build 3 more serpent ships. The men were working hard under the hot morning sun straining to get the huge logs off that would form part of the keep of one of the ships. The timber was specially selected from older trees harvested and stripped of its outer branches leaving the bare strait trunks for cutting and shaping.
I watched as trestles were set on the docks block and tackle, chain and shackle were used to lift and man handle the timber directly onto waiting carts. There were a string of carts waiting as the logs were laid across two carts at a time, then strapped into place and hauled off to a nearby yard where the shipwright and his team could inspect the timber choose which were the best logs to use then wait for them to dry. It was a long process and this would no doubt reveal Caldors skills completely.

says to ALL: Work on the docks were structured with the ships crew and dock hands seeing to the offloading of the timber and onto carts that were drawn by teams of transporters that carted the logs over to the timber yard adjacent to the shipyard and slipway. The carts were drawn by a team of tharlarion that dragged the heavily loaded carts over the docks to the yard. It was there where Caldor his team and I began to look over the timber to ensure what was suitable and what the quality was like. We climbed over the logs inspecting the grain and the age of the timer, Caldor and his team checking width and length to ensure what cuts could be made to utilize the logs with the least wastage. The man was a genius, he had his length of marked rope and chisel cutting pieces of wood and inspecting, the rope used to measure lengths so he could call his men to mark the logs with paint indicating each cut that needed to be made. As we worked he expressed his happiness with the timber and grinned "this seems to be a better source of timber Dhal, better than what we were getting from Lydius, I like the age and density of the wood, it will make good light yet sturdy ships" he laughed satisfied with what he had to work with immersing himself in his work pleased that he would be able to produce some fine ships

says to Luna Alhazred Mate of Ty: we worked quickly going over each length of timber with Caldor ensuring that each log was marked and allocated, his assistant was making notes drawing up a list of pieces that would be extracted and would later be compared to the bill of quantities that were needed for the completion of the vessel. Bending over the logs then climbing along the stacks as they lay was quick with the shipwrights expertise helping things to move along easily, he had an eye for the dimensions and the shape of the logs.
while we worked, the carts brought in more timber from the docks offloading with the derricks to ensure that they were rolled and set into place the yard teams rolling them and chocking them so that they were solid and secure and would not roll when stacked. The sun was hot yet the men worked fast and efficiently making the allocation of the logs easy to complete. Standing beside Caldor the shipwright now I asked "when do you think that we will be able to throw the keel Caldor?" He looked at me then glanced back at the timber "it will be another week Captain, the timber needs to dry before we can begin cutting and in some cases splitting logs for the planking for the hulls. The timber is good quality and the grain is close so its dense and light. It does not appear to have absorbed too much water, we will be good to go in one hand" we laughed at the good news and I began to head back to the docks rather pleased that things were going according to plan

Men loaded the crates onto an open cart after I had called them to do so. I moved to sit on a crate stacked to the side offering you a space on one adjacent to mine "I do hope that there will be more to follow, I think a steady supply of steel and flour would be easy for you to see too? Of course the Port Scribe would see to your bills at the end of each hand if that would be suitable?"
